My Design Approach
“Don’t make me think.” - Steve Krug I believe the best design is invisible. If it works well and as intended, users shouldn't notice it at all. I also design with implementation in mind. Collaboration with developers is essential. While designing, I'm always thinking of usage scenarios to ensure every interaction is practical and buildable. Good design isn’t just beautiful- it also needs to ship!
Who I Am
I’ve always been fascinated by how design influences human behavior. When I was younger, I was curious about psychological tricks used by grocery stores, like .99 prices, or putting expensive branded products at eye level. Now, my interest has shifted to the digital world. I'm especially drawn to how small design choices, like read receipts or showing what friends like, can shape how people engage and interact with one another. Outside of design, I love solo travel, animals, and drawing in my free time.

“Amber landed at the outset of a large project, and was integrated into the requirements gathering team, and design team. She made UI Models, validated them with customers, worked on database design, and data migration, on a conversion from 30 y/o legacy to Azure. Worked with developers to see the first 1/4 of the project built and deployed to Azure, our development environment and onto the customer's production environment. She put in flexible hours, accommodated to our international team in 4 time zones, all while helping out as a customer success manager on a large Law Enforcement deployment, after quickly obtaining an enhanced background check. ”

Amber did a fantastic job looking at existing software and critically analyzing them to give us a starting point for our designs. Additionally, she did a great job understanding the core of the problem we are attempting to solve, which made her work focused and precise. Amber also did a great job balancing the requirements of different teams within the company (ex., business requirements, development feasibility, and user experience). Finally, Amber produced good-looking, high-quality designs.
